The Public Works Department’s mission is to manage, direct and provide technical support and administration for city and utility construction projects, mapping, snow removal, weed cutting, refuse and recycling; conduct studies of infrastructure, prepare grant applications, file reports with governmental agencies, and provide support to committees and commissions; respond to inquiries from citizens, realtors, contractors and other departments.
Approximately 50 percent of departmental time is spent on Water and Sewer Utility management, support and construction.




City of Platteville Notice to Destroy Noxious Weeds | Apr 28, 2015
Wisconsin Statutes 66.0407 and City Ordinance 5.01 require that all persons who own, occupy or control land within the City of Platteville are required to destroy all weeds on such lands. “Noxious weed” means Canada Thistle, leafy spurge, field bindweed (creeping jenny), whorled milkweed, bull thistle, common ragweed, giant ragweed, wild parsnip, nettles, burdock, wild hemp (marijuana), poison ivy, poison oak, jimsonweed, common cocklebur, black nightshade and any other weed the Common Council declares to be noxious within its boundaries. City of Platteville Cemetery Spring Clean-up | Mar 16, 2015
City of Platteville Hillside and Greenwood Cemeteries Spring Clean-up  A general clean-up of Hillside and Greenwood Cemeteries will begin on Monday, March 30, 2015 (weather permitting).  Please remove any flowers or decorations you wish to save by March 29th.  During clean-up, cemetery personnel will discard any flowers or decorations remaining after March 30, 2015.  Flowers and decorations may again be placed after Friday, April 3, 2015.
