Due to rain and lightning, the steel and precast flooring did not go up this week as planned. As a result, the contractor will need to fully close Main Street between Elm and Chestnut from approximately 7:00 am on Monday, July 25 through 5:30 pm on Tuesday, July 26. It will be closed overnight Monday night. Chestnut Street, southbound lane only, from Main Street to Pine Street will be closed on Monday and Tuesday August 1 and 2. As of now, the contractor is preparing to install curb & gutter on Bonson & Mineral St on Friday. The sidewalk area that is currently gravel will still be open during construction to allow people to enter the building. Thursday morning City staff will have a construction meeting to discuss this project and when the sidewalk will be phased to allow access into the City Hall building.

The week of July 18 – 22 will bring additional closures on Main Street from Elm to Chestnut. The contractor plans to close the street Monday July 18 – Thursday July 21 during normal work hours only – 7 AM to 5:30 PM. If all goes well, they may be done early. Structural steel and precast floor panels for the first floor of the library section have been installed. The City will soon be informed of the schedule for the crane to be posted on Main Street again to remove piles. This work should take no more than 3-days during the week of July 11 (this week). The following week (week of July 18), there will be a 2-day window where the crane will be needed to install the second floor precast panels. The City will get more information on dates as it gets closer.
