Community Planning & Development Department

The Community Planning & Development Department is responsible for guiding, promoting and regulating the built environment in the City of Platteville.  The department also works cooperatively with Platteville Township to regulate construction and planning activities in the surrounding extraterritorial zoning and planning area.  The department oversees  the long-range and short-range planning and implementation of comprehensive plans, downtown redevelopment, community development, historic preservation, zoning, housing programs and building inspection.

DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PLAN

The Platteville Redevelopment Authority and the City of Platteville have received a $20,000 CDBG grant to assist with the creation of a Downtown Revitalization Plan.  The plan will include a market analysis, housing study, land redevelopment strategy, and the creation of design ideas for the downtown area.  The result of this process will be a general redevelopment strategy that will help provide a long-range revitalization program that will serve to enhance the downtown.

The steering committee will be meeting with the consultants on the 1^st Wednesday of each month as part of the plan development process. These meetings are open to the public and downtown business owners, downtown property owners, and other individuals that have an interest in the future of the downtown are encouraged to become part of this process.
