Library Block Project Update - Friday, May 27th | May 27, 2016
The contractor is continuing with excavation, footings and walls for the underground parking beneath the new Library. Due to concrete scheduling, the eastbound lane of Main Street will be closed on Friday afternoon, May 27th. A revised schedule is in progress, but we believe the target date for completion of the Library portion will be the end of February or early March 2017. Future Work: Crews will continue to pour footings and walls in the Library area, then in the Hotel area. Bronson Street Construction Update – May 26, 2016 | May 26, 2016
Work on Bonson Street began on May 16th. City Hall steps were removed and a test wall for the color and surface texture of the pedestals was poured. On Wednesday, May 25th the contractor did a tie-in for a new water line at Main Street, and is installing the water line toward Furnace Street. Future work: The contractor will begin work on the steps and pedestals. Another crew will continue working on the water main. To access City Hall, please use the Mineral Street entrance.
Bonson Street Reconstruction to Begin Monday, May 16 | May 11, 2016
Bonson Street Reconstruction will begin on Monday, May 16th and is scheduled to be complete by July 22nd. Construction will begin with replacement of the City Hall Steps. Anyone wishing to access the building will be required to use the Mineral Street entrance. For fire exit purposes, there is a second exit straight through the Auditorium onto Fourth Street. Construction vehicles will begin to be parked on Bonson Street on Friday, May 13th. The City received four responses to the Request for Proposal (RFP) for redevelopment of the former Pioneer Ford site. The Common Council has appointed a task force to review the proposals. Task force members include Council members Barb Daus and Tom Nall, Main Street Director Jack Luedtke, Platteville Area Industry Development Corporation Director Ela Kakde, Redevelopment Authority member Larry Ward, Community Development Director Joe Carroll and City Manager Karen Kurt.
