Washington and Spring Streets will be posted NO PARKING as of Monday, March 26, 2012. The contractor will begin staging equipment and materials on the street that day. A Public Information Meeting will be held on Monday evening, March 26, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at city Hall. Work will begin on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 (weather dependent).
The contractor will place permanent construction work zone signage on Tuesday morning prior to starting work.
The intent is to work on sewer & water in the Union Street intersection to the north first. The Union Street intersection will be blocked for approximately two weeks.

Notice to Destroy Noxious Weeds
Wisconsin Statutes 66.0407 and City Ordinance 5.01 require that all persons who own, occupy or control land within the City of Platteville are required to destroy all weeds on such lands.
“Noxious weed” means Canada Thistle, leafy spurge, field bindweed (creeping jenny), whorled milkweed, bull thistle, common ragweed, giant ragweed, wild parsnip, nettles, burdock, wild hemp (marijuana), poison ivy, poison oak, jimsonweed, common cocklebur, black nightshade and any other weed the Common Council declares to be noxious within its boundaries.
If noxious weeds are not destroyed, the City will cause the weeds to be destroyed and the cost of the work will be charged to the property owner. This also applies to any growth of weeds, grasses or lawns over eight (8) inches in height, subject to the exceptions in Chapter 5.01. An administration charge of $40.00 per parcel shall be added to bills where the property owner fails to mow his property and causes the City to perform the work.

CITY OF PLATTEVILLE
2012 ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN UP
The City of Platteville annual Spring clean up will be held on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, 2012, with pick up the same day as your normal refuse collection. Items must be placed neatly at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pick up. This service is provided to one and two family dwellings only.
Specific items that WILL NOT be picked up include batteries & tires, appliances including microwaves, refuse from major construction and remodeling projects, as well as oil, anti-freeze, insecticides, and hazardous chemicals. Boy Scout Troop 82 will collect appliances for a donation. Please call 348-5115 to arrange pick up.
Electronics (computers, printers, computer monitors, mice, keyboards, and all accessories, televisions, DVD players, VCR's, DVR's, fax machines and cell phones) WILL NOT be picked. If you need to dispose of an electronic item, please contact Faherty Recycling at 608/348-9586 for additional information.
All items must be stacked neatly and be in a pile no larger than 10’ x 4’ x 4’. Scrap metal should be stacked neatly separate from other refuse. Scrap metal and yard waste does not count toward the maximum size limit.
Garden and yard waste will be included in the Sprin clean up and will be picked up by City crews on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of clean up week only. Please bag separately from weekly garbage and the $1.00 bags are not required during this special pick up only.

Manage, direct and provide technical support and administration for city and utility construction projects, mapping, snow removal, weed cutting, refuse and recycling. Conduct studies of infrastructure, prepare grant applications, file reports with governmental agencies, and provide support to committees and commissions. Respond to inquiries from citizens, realtors, contractors and other departments. Approximately 50% of departmental time is spent on Water and Sewer Utility management, support and construction.

Shared Ride TAXI
The City of Platteville has a Shared Ride Taxi service. The provider is Top Hat, Inc. They have a local office at 1250 E. Business Hwy 151, Suite I and the phone number for requesting rides is 608/348-6767. This service will NOT operate on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hours of Operation and Fares as of January 1, 2012:
- 6 AM to 8 PM Monday - Saturday and 7 AM to 1 PM on Sunday
- Fares within City Limits: $2.75 for regular passengers; $2.50 for seniors over the age of 65, handicapped persons and children of high school age or below.
- $1.00 for additional riders to same location within the City Limits.
- Fares outside of the City Limits: $2.00 per mile above and beyond the appropriate base rate.
- Fares for intermediate stops (ATM, etc.) will be $1.00 per stop.
- The service is open to ALL citizens.
