Fall Art Classes Offered at Rountree Gallery
This fall, Rountree Gallery is offering a variety of art classes. By popular demand, Janet Checker of Galena will continue offering her series of “Oil Painting in an Afternoon” classes throughout the year. Students, age 16 to adult, will learn oil painting techniques and tips, as they follow Janet’s demonstration in completing a painting from start to finish. Each class will focus on different techniques and subject matter, and students are welcome to attend one or more classes. The fall classes are scheduled on Sundays, September 25, October 23, and November 6 from 1:00-4:00, cost is $35/class. Janet will also be offering a “Quick Paint” session on Thursday, October 6 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., cost $25.
On Monday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m., Lisa Humke of Dodgeville will be sharing home-made recipes using household items to “Patina Copper Metal”. Different recipes yield different colors, from blues to rusts, and the end result is excellent for use in mixed-media collages and jewelry. Lisa will be demonstrating techniques and will have samples on hand. This is a free demonstration, and participants are welcome to stay afterword and attend the bi-monthly Friends of Our Gallery meeting that follows.
Garnet Wind of Platteville will be offering classes for students age middle school to adult. On Sunday, October 16 from 1:00-3:00, students will design and create an original work of wearable art during “Bleach Art”, cost $20. Scheduled for Sunday, November 13 from 12:00 – 4:00, is the “Weave a Basket” class where students will make and take a small basket, cost $40.
On Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 – Noon, Tom Cabezas of Mineral Point will lead a hands-on workshop “Textured Mixed Media”. Tom will guide students in creating a unique painted art piece rich in texture, layered color, and sophisticated design. He will share some ideas and techniques for combining acrylic paints, textured compounds, various papers, and offbeat found objects. As a design teacher, Tom will also share his composition principles, design ideas, and new ways to use your art materials to add heightened impact to your mixed media creations. This workshop is being offered in conjunction with the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) exhibit, open to artists age 16 and older. Cost to attend is just $5.00.
