The Galena Artists’ Guild Inc. was founded more than four decades ago by leading artists in the historic, arts-friendly town of Galena, Illinois. In the beginning, it consisted of a small group of working artists getting together to discuss their latest ideas in a social setting. Many of the founders are current members of the Guild. Today, with more than eighty members, the Guild is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation sponsoring visual arts and artists in Galena and the surrounding areas, and also sponsors a member-run gallery at 324 Spring St. (Hwy. 20 west of Main St. Galena, IL) Membership is open to artists and supporters of the arts from the Tri-State area that live in a 35 mile radius of Galena. The Guild offers art workshops and classes and awards scholarships to students seeking a degree and a career in art, in addition to continuing education grants to members who are working artists to support them in their artistic endeavors. The Galena Artists’ Guild has several special events each year and is constantly developing new venues for the public to view and purchase the vast range of fine arts represented in our membership.
