Governor Tony Evers Visits Platteville As Part Of Statewide "Pothole Patrol" Tour

Governor Evers With City Street Superintendent Nick Seng

On May 25, 2023, Governor Tony Evers visited the City of Platteville where he repaired potholes on Sowden Street as part of his annual statewide “Pothole Patrol” tour. Governor Evers’ 2023-25 budget initiatives include providing a high level of funding for general transportation aids, which go directly toward helping counties and local communities repair and maintain local roads.

Governor Evers was joined by Wisconsin State Representative Travis Tranel, Wisconsin DOT Secretary Craig Thompson and City Council President Barb Daus. City Street Superintendent Nick Seng gave guidance on the pothole filling process, while City Manager Clinton Langreck, City Public Works Director Howard Crofoot, Wisconsin DOT Regional Director Brett Wallace, City Street Workers Jason Genthe and Kip Pickel, along with several others, looked on.

Included in the “Pothole Patrol” visit, was an impromptu tour of the Platteville Inclusive Playground by City Council President Barb Daus. The playground, which was funded in part by a 1.9 million dollar State of Wisconsin Community Development Block Cares Act Grant, is scheduled to open on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
