Promotion of Colette Steffen to City Clerk

Dear members and partners of our Platteville Community,

I am pleased to announce the promotion of Colette Steffen to the position of City Clerk within our esteemed Platteville Clerk's Office. This decision has been made based on Colette's outstanding qualifications, capabilities, and commitment to serving our community.

In her previous role as Deputy Clerk, Colette demonstrated exceptional skills in managing many components of the Clerk's Office, and her dedication and willingness to shoulder many demanding projects in her tenure as Deputy Clerk has been commendable. Through a thorough assessment of Colette's performance, the city recognizes her as an invaluable asset to our team, and we are honored to have her take on this position of increased responsibility and authority.

It's important to note that this promotion is made with careful consideration and in alignment with our organizational needs. Following the resignation of Clerk Klaas, we considered the need for a formal posting for the position vacancy. In reviewing Colette's credentials, it quickly became apparent that the community is best served by promoting this outstanding deputy. The fact that we are navigating through the challenges and responsibilities associated with the upcoming elections also supported this decision of a timely transition of authority.

I am confident in Colette's ability to fulfill the duties of the position with professionalism and dedication. Her experience, knowledge, and proven track record as a deputy make her well-suited for this role. Colette's official appointment will be recognized effective February 4th, 2024.

We look forward to Colette continuing to contribute to the success of our Clerk's Office and serving our community with the same level of excellence that she has consistently demonstrated.

Congratulations to City Clerk Colette Steffen on this well-deserved promotion.

Sincerely,

Clinton Langreck
Platteville City Manager
