Platteville Library Foundation Receives Estate Gift

The Platteville Public Library Foundation recently accepted a bequest of over $97,000 from the estate of Eila Butterworth.

Reflecting on the impact of this remarkable gift, Library Foundation President Lori Laufenberg notes “Mrs. Butterworth’s gift is a testament to her support of literacy and access to information in our community.  We are grateful for her generosity.”

The gift to the Platteville Library Foundation was unrestricted.  In keeping with the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring future support for the Platteville Public library, the board determined that the gift will be transferred into the endowment account designated for the long-term care of the library building.

“Mrs. Butterworth’s gift was really touching and will play an important role in keeping our services and building up-to-date for our patrons for many years to come” stated Library Director Lee-Jones.

Planned gifts are an important part of the charitable giving process.  Community members are encouraged to consider the Platteville Library Foundation in their family's financial planning.
