Platteville Public Transportation Bus Service Begins Today!

PLATTEVILLE, WI (May 18, 2015) – The Platteville Public Transportation Bus Service goes into effect May 18th, beginning with a summer schedule.  The Summer Bus Schedule will run from May 18th through August 27th, with hours of operation from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Extended hours will begin in September.

The cost to ride the bus is $1.00 per ride, cash and exact change only.  UW-Platteville Students may ride with no charge by showing their student ID.  Monthly passes, which allow unlimited rides, are available for $25.00 per month, or buy two months and get the third month free.  Monthly passes are available for purchase at the City Hall Finance Office, Public Library, UW-Platteville Student Center Information Desk, and Piggly Wiggly Customer Service Counter.

Please be aware that when waiting for the bus, you should stand next to the Bus Stop Sign so the driver can see you.  If it appears no riders are waiting, the bus may drive past the stop.  Due to slight deviations in schedules, buses will arrive within six minutes of scheduled arrival.

This service expands the public transportation options for all citizens.  For those who have the flexibility and ride frequently, it can be a lower cost alternative to the taxi.  The bus is ADA compliant, however it is unable to deviate from specified routes.  Please contact the Platteville Public Transportation Taxi Service at (608) 348-6767 for door-to-door service.  For more information on the Platteville Public Transportation Bus Service, please call (608) 348-9741 ext. 2238 or visit platteville.org/transportation.
