Election held on the first Tuesday in April to elect judicial, educational, and municipal officers, and non-partisan county officers, and to express preferences for the person to be the presidential candidate for each party in presidential election years.

Casting an Absentee Ballot

In order to cast an absentee ballot, you must first be registered to vote at your current address.  If you are registered, you may obtain a ballot:

  • In-person in the Clerk’s Office – This can be done in the Clerk’s Office or Council Chambers two weeks prior to every election between the hours of 8 AM and 4:30 PM.  A valid Photo ID must be presented.  No ballots may be taken from the Clerk’s Office.
  • By Mail – Download the Absentee Ballot application (EL-121) and mail or deliver it to the City Clerk’s Office or visit Myvote.wi.gov to request your absentee ballot. Instructions to complete this on your smartphone are below. The application, along with a valid Photo ID, must be received by the Clerk no later than 5 PM on the Thursday before an election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. 
  • Online – Military and permanent overseas voters can register and apply for absentee ballots online.

The completed absentee ballot must be received at the polling place by 8:00 PM on Election Day in order to be counted.  If you are not registered to vote, download the Voter Registration application (EL-131).  You may submit both a voter registration application, along with a Proof of Residenceand an application for absentee ballot at the same time.
