Experience: Ken Kilian has extensive experience in city government. Experience through the years has been with the Water & Sewer Commission, Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Library Board, Museum Board, Park Board, Tree Advisory Board, and numerous other committees.

Education: The Bachelor of Science was with majors in Soil Science and Agribusiness. The Master of Science and doctorate degrees were in the areas of Soil Fertility, Plant Nutrition and Plant Physiology. The doctorate especially provided a more detailed education in environment quality and this knowledge served him well during his professional career and work with the City of Platteville. Degrees were earned at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Profession: Five years teaching and research were done at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. Ken taught and conducted research at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for 37 years. He retired in 2005 as Professor Emeritus. Courses taught during his professional career and especially pertinent to his city involvement include Environment Quality, Soil and Water Conservation, Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition, Nutrient Management, Soil Physics and Soil Chemistry.
