Shelter Reservations

To reserve one of the park shelters listed below, please visit the Parks & Recreation Office or call 608-348-9741 ext. 2238. Beginning January 2, 2020, the Platteville Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting reservations for all outdoor park shelters within a 12-month time frame instead of the current calendar year

Parks shelters make a great setting for birthday parties, graduations parties, family reunions or corporate retreats.  Alcohol is permitted by permit only. All shelters have power. 

Shelters are available on a first-come, first-serve basis unless previously reserved. Reserving a shelter will guarantee you the shelter on your chosen day. Shelter reservations are $50 per day/event. Legion Park Broske Center has a different fee, please see entry below for more details. 

City Parks, and therefore park shelters, are open to the public from 6:00 am - 10:30 pm. 

Water in park restrooms is shut off in late October and turned back on in early April, weather permitting.

Animals in Parks

Municipal Code: 6.02.05

It shall be unlawful to own, harbor, or keep any animal which: Is present, whether on or off a leash, within the Platteville Family Aquatic Center, City Park, or Harrison Park of the City; within 20 feet of a playground; within sports field and facilities including baseball/softball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts; within special events, except where the sponsor has specifically requested to allow dogs; within any area designated by the Parks and Recreation Director and posted "no Dogs Allowed". 

Alcohol in Parks

When renting a park shelter, for an additional damage deposit of $50, renter will be issued an alcohol consumption permit which will allow renter to drink alcohol in the shelters as long as the following conditions are met:

a. Renter shall not sell or serve alcohol to any person under the age of 21. The renter must abide by all state laws regarding the serving, sale and consumption of alcohol. State laws fall under Wisconsin State Legislature Chapter 125.

b. Private Event with no money exchanged. There are no additional license or restrictions for a private event where no money is exchanged. A private event is by invitation only where invited guests are known to the host. Examples of private events might include weddings, family gatherings, or corporate outings.

 

This alcohol consumption permit is issued under the municipal code chapter 36.15 (3) (b).

If the shelter is left in good condition, the renter will be refunded the damage deposit.
