City of Platteville Seeks New City Manager

The City of Platteville, Wisconsin is seeking a dynamic candidate who demonstrates strong management and leadership skills for its next City Manager.

Platteville has a Council-Manager form of government.  The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer directing an executive leadership team of 7 department directors, including Administration, Police, Fire, Public Works, Community Development, Parks and Recreation, and Library Services.

The ideal candidate will be a leader of high integrity with strong decision making, problem solving, organizational, and listening skills, and must have a demonstrated working knowledge of municipal management, government budgeting, finance, personnel, labor relations, organizational development, project management, intergovernmental relations, and economic development, including Tax Increment Financing (TIF).

Minimum Education and Experience to include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field
  • Five years of progressive experience in local government
  • A master’s degree, and ICMA-CM credential preferred
  • Experience in community development
  • The ability to manage a diverse team of subordinates and department heads
  • Residency is encouraged and incentivized
