Steven Badger - Alderperson At-Large

At-Large

Steve Badger, a dedicated family man and community servant, brings a wealth of experience to the Platteville Common Council. Raised in Chicago’s western suburbs, Steve worked on a factory line while earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from Elmhurst College. He and his wife, Shannon, married in 1991 and raised ten children, homeschooling them while involving them in the school band and choir programs. In 2000, Steve moved his family to a farm in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, to live multi-generationally with his in-laws, and in 2016, they settled in Platteville, where they enjoy walking and engaging in city life.

With a successful career in systems software development, project management, and systems architecture, Steve is known for his creative, “outside-the-box” solutions. His financial prudence allowed him to retire early, giving him time to focus on family, grandchildren, and community service. As a church elder, volunteer at Clarity Clinic, and leader in the local Awana club, Steve has long embodied a culture of service. He believes strongly in civic responsibility and sees his role on the Common Council as a way to give back to Platteville while inspiring others to get involved.

Steve is eager to apply his problem-solving skills and collaborative spirit to address Platteville’s needs, from sustainable budgeting to community development. He looks forward to working with residents to build a brighter future for our city.
