Freida B book signing with Nancy Olson

Calendar Date:
Saturday, June 13, 2026 - 10:30am to 12:30pm

Nancy Olson is a retired school social worker working with children and families for over 40 years. In her work, Nancy addressed various traumas, but had particular interest and experience with domestic violence. Nancy taught mindfulness to all ages and found it to be a very useful tool to work through daily anxiety.

Nancy grew up in the city of Chicago and was fortunate enough to have a Great Aunt who owned a cottage in Door County. Each summer, Nancy’s Great Aunt and Great Grandmother (Hulda Frieda, the inspiration for the name) would invite her to go to the cottage, where Nancy fell in love with nature (especially rocks!) and water. Nancy felt enthralled with Lake Michigan and was in awe of its power. On the shores of the “lake that goes on and on,” Nancy could be present and cope with worry and other feelings.

Nancy lives with her husband of 43 years in the scenic and peaceful country. She and her husband have two grown children, two grandchildren, and three granddogs.

Nancy had the idea of Frieda B years ago. With encouragement by a message from her Great Grandmother to write the book, she finally did. Nancy hopes her readers are “Frieda B” (free to be) who they want to be. Please enjoy the book as much as she has enjoyed writing it. Copies of the book can be purchased ahead of time through Amazon.

About Freida B:

Sometimes things get scary in the night. I hear loud noises and yelling. I worry about what could happen or if someone could get hurt. My belly hurts, it's hard to breathe, and I want to shout, "Stop!" I feel sad and want to cry, but I don't. I lie very still waiting for it to be over. For all of you who have felt this way, join me on a journey to a special place: a place where I am "free to be" (Frieda B) and I hope you are too!
