Platteville Announces Lt. Josh Grabandt as Next Police Chief

PLATTEVILLE, WI — The City of Platteville is pleased to announce the appointment of Lt. Josh Grabandt as the City’s next Police Chief, following a comprehensive internal promotional process led by the Platteville Police and Fire Commission.

Lt. Grabandt emerged as the selected candidate after demonstrating strong leadership qualities, a clear vision for the future of the Platteville Police Department, and genuine excitement for the opportunity to serve in this role. Throughout the Police and Fire Commission–led process, he showed a deep understanding of the department’s mission and a commitment to guiding the organization with professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Having served the Platteville Police Department in various leadership capacities, Lt. Grabandt has earned the respect of both colleagues and community members. He is recognized for his collaborative leadership style, dedication to officer development, and focus on community-oriented policing. As Police Chief, he plans to build on the department’s existing strengths while continuing to enhance public trust, operational effectiveness, and service to the community. 

Lt. Grabandt will officially assume the role of Police Chief on March 2, 2026, following the retirement of current Chief of Police, Doug McKinley.
