Platteville Police Department News Release June 24, 2020

On June 24, 2020, at 9:20 AM, Platteville Police Officers responded to a residence in the City for the report of a juvenile who was throwing things at another subject in the house. Upon arrival, the juvenile was alone in the residence, had armed themself with an edged weapon and told officers to shoot them. After a short time, the juvenile exited the residence and dropped the weapon upon officer instruction. The juvenile picked the weapon up a second time. An Officer discharged a Taser without striking the juvenile. The juvenile then complied with officer commands and was taken into custody, without injury or further incident. One subject who was in the house was transported to the hospital by Southwest Health EMS. The juvenile was transported to Southwest Health for medical evaluation and then to a secure facility.
