City Manager Internship - Spring 2026

The City of Platteville is seeking a motivated and civic-minded student to serve as the City Manager Intern for the Spring 2026 semester. This unpaid, for-credit internship is designed for a UW-Platteville student interested in gaining hands-on experience in local government operations, policy development, and community engagement.
Position Highlights:
Interns will work directly with the City Manager and staff across departments on such projects as:
Lead community discussions on the future disposition of the old fire facility.
Research cost analysis solutions for fleet management and printing production.
Review and propose policy changes.
Contribute to long-term forecasting for a solvent street reconstruction program.
Support communications, administrative tasks, and special projects.
Timeline:
Application Deadline: December 1, 2025
Application Review: December 1st-5th, 2025
Interviews: December 8th-12th, 2025
Selection Notification: December 19, 2025
Internship Start Date: January 2026 (Spring Semester at UW-Platteville)
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a degree program at UW-Platteville, preferably in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong academic standing and interest in municipal government and public service.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Professionalism and initiative.
- Posess the knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the Position Description.
