PLATTEVILLE, WI (July 24, 2026) – In 2027, Platteville will proudly celebrate its 200th Anniversary — a milestone that honors our rich history, vibrant present, and exciting future.

Throughout the year, residents and visitors will be invited to celebrate the people, places, and traditions that have shaped Platteville over the past two centuries. From its mining heritage and agricultural roots to its thriving schools, businesses, and community organizations, the Bicentennial will highlight the people and accomplishments that have made Platteville the community it is today.

A 200th Anniversary Committee, made up of representatives from local organizations and City leadership, has been formed to begin the planning process. Proposed projects and events include: Bicentennial Commemorative Book, Century Farms Booklet, Official Bicentennial Proclamation, Community Time Capsule and Historical Play. In addition, many of Platteville's annual events will feature special Bicentennial activities and tributes throughout the year.
