Public Advisory: Severe Weather Preparedness – City of Platteville

With the summer storm season in full swing, the City of Platteville urges all residents to take time now to prepare for severe weather events.

Be Prepared:
Please visit Ready.gov to create a personal emergency plan for yourself, your household, or your business. Having a plan in place before a storm hits can save lives.

Monthly Emergency Siren Tests:
The city conducts routine emergency siren tests each month. We encourage all residents to use this time to review, revise, and practice your storm response plan with your family or staff.

Shelter Availability:
During business hours, city buildings may offer shelter to employees and patrons. Some cement block structures in public parks may also be open and suitable for shelter. Please be aware that shelter availability is not guaranteed and may vary by location and time.

Stay Off the Streets During Storms:
Severe weather systems can form and strike with little or no warning. Being outdoors or on the road during a storm is extremely dangerous.

Have a shelter location in or near your home and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather alerts.

Get Notified – Register for Code Red:
We strongly encourage residents to sign up for Grant County’s Code Red Emergency Notification System for real-time alerts.
