3-26 Knoll Wood Way Water Main Replacement Project

A Public Information meeting regarding the upcoming Knoll Wood Way Water Main Replacement project was held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City
Hall, which is located at 75 N. Bonson Street, Platteville, Wisconsin 53818.
The City of Platteville will be replacing the water main on Knoll Wood Way from STH 80/81 to Emily Street (which is where the Oakhaven Subdivision begins). This project will only be replacing the water main with minimal pavement and curb and gutter replacement.
This project will be bid in February/March 2026 with work anticipated to begin in early summer 2026 and be completed in early fall 2026. Construction should last approximately 2 months.
In late spring or early summer there will be a second Public Information meeting that will focus on the construction and its impact on traffic and the Knoll Wood and Oakhaven neighborhoods. At that time all residents in these two neighborhoods will be invited.

Status Updates
March 13, 2026 Project Update:
The contractor for this project will be Temperley Excavating from East Dubuque, IL. They anticipate 6-8 weeks to complete the work. There will be a Public Information meeting approximately one to two weeks prior to the start of construction. A full information letter can be found in files below.
July 31, 2026 Project Update:
The contractor intends to start the week of August 17 and work from Highway 80 to the west. The contractor will maintain one lane of traffic with brief times when all traffic may be stopped for a few minutes. The project should be complete by the end of September.
August 17, 2026 Project Update:
The contractor will begin to mobilize equipment and materials Wednesday - Friday this week with work expected to begin on Monday, August 24.
September 24, 2026 Project Update:
Water main installation is complete. Homes will have temporary outages starting Friday September 25 to connect to the new line. This process should take into the middle of week of September 28. If weather permits, there will be one last outage in early October to connect the new lines and install additional shut off valves along Business 151. After that, there will be curb and pavement restoration in mid-October.
