The City of Platteville is pleased to share the latest update on the Aquatic Center reconstruction. As design development continues, the project remains focused on updating core infrastructure—including a new pool vessel, enhanced bathhouse, and upgraded pump house—while also planning for future recreational amenities through private fundraising.

We are also proud to announce the formation of SPLASH, a citizen-led campaign committee formed to partner with Inspiring Community, Inc., the City’s officially designated fundraising agency for this effort. Together, SPLASH and Inspiring Community are leading the capital campaign to support enhancements beyond the base project, including water slides, play features, and improved amenities for families and spectators. For more information, visit: www.plattevillepublicpool.com/.

The project design team has advanced several key elements, including:

Bathhouse Improvements - Seven additional stalls and a sink in the women’s restroom to meet code, reconfigured showers for improved privacy, added storage space at the front desk, upgraded fixtures, and a family restroom/changing room.

Mechanical and Electrical Review - Coordination on pump room layout, electrical load capacity, and water treatment (liquid vs. pellet). Final mechanical plans are expected shortly.

Site Features and Utilities - Review of fencing reuse, ADA-compliant sidewalk adjustments, seeding specs, and drainage design modeled after successful recent projects.

Demolition Package - Estimated at $225,000, the demolition scope includes removing current vessel, salvaging usable elements (e.g., diving boards), and preparing for site regrading and foundational work.

Amenities Under Review: Water slide, elevated shade structures, play features, LED lighting,
and other enhancements—pending fundraising success.

The attached image reflects a current design rendering of the complete vision. It should be noted that the base project is limited to reconstruction of the core facility. Additional amenities illustrated will be contingent on the success of the capital campaign.

The City of Platteville thanks all who have voiced support, contributed ideas, and expressed interest in this long-anticipated project. Together, we look forward to building a facility that reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
