City of Platteville Awarded 1.9 Million For The Platteville Inclusive Playground

City of Platteville Staff and Platteville Inclusive Playground Committee Members

The Platteville Inclusive Playground Committee is excited to share that the City of Platteville was recently awarded the CDBG-CV grant for which $1.9 million dollars is allotted to the Platteville Inclusive Playground project.

In addition, City Council has voted in favor of committing $100,000 to the PIP project with priority going to upgrading the Smith Park Stone shelter to make bathrooms accessible. Though the CDBG-CV grant does not cover all aspects of the Platteville Inclusive Playground project it is fantastic news!

While it is estimated that it will cost roughly $2.2 million to complete all physical elements of the entire PIP project, we intend to continue to fundraise beyond that recognizing the importance of establishing a long-term maintenance fund to help keep this incredible playground beautiful for decades to come. In addition, there is room within the designated play space to add additional exciting bonus equipment that the design team has on their wish list if community donations are sufficient.

The Platteville Inclusive Playground project is set for fall 2022 installation barring any supply chain delays. While donations are welcome anytime, our plan is to attempt to reach our equipment fundraising goals by April 30th so that we can order our equipment in time for installation. We are partnered with Inspiring Community Inc. as our non-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible. There is no better time to join us in investing in this incredible project! The Platteville Inclusive Playground is going to be an amazing asset to all of Southwest WI, putting Platteville on the map as a leader in Inclusiveness. Feel free contact us for more details.
