PCA’s Valley-to-Eastside Expansion Project Fundraising Reaches $200,000

Valley to Eastside Expansion Map

The Platteville Community Arboretum (PCA) reports that the fundraising for the Valley-to-Eastside Expansion Project has achieved a milestone. Almost a hundred donors contributed over $200,000 to help purchase five parcels of land for public use. This project began in September 2024 with a stewardship grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Through the help and guidance of Inspiring Community, Inc., the PCA has raised enough to move forward.

Two of the five parcels have already been purchased. The other three will be formally acquired in the coming months. This project will add approximately 15 acres of land for public use.

Joe Jacquinot, president of the PCA, would like to thank all the donors for their tremendous generosity in making this project happen. Furthermore, he would like to thank the City of Platteville and Inspiring Community, Inc., for all their efforts in this first phase. After the closings on all five parcels, the PCA will proceed to the next phase: Trail design and construction of the retired railroad bed that stretches to Eastside Road and a new trailhead on Valley Road.
