Friendly Reminder to Clear Your Sidewalks After Snowfall

Friendly Reminder Graphic with Ice background

Per Chapter 4 of the Municipal Code, City ordinances require property owners to clear the full width of their sidewalks within 36 hours after a snow event. If a sidewalk remains uncleared after this period, the City will dispatch contractors, and the property owner will be billed for the service.

In addition to a $60 City administrative fee, the contractor will charge $150 per sidewalk for snow removal, regardless of its length or width. If salting and scraping are also required, an additional $50 will be added. This results in a total charge of $210 for snow removal only, or $260 for snow and ice removal with salting and scraping. Please consider planning ahead if you may need assistance clearing your sidewalks.

On behalf of the residents of Platteville, thank you for keeping your sidewalks clear and helping ensure safe travel for pedestrians in our community.
