Building Permit Fee Grant
City of Platteville Announces Building Permit Fee Grant for April 2025 Hail Damage
The City of Platteville is offering financial assistance to homeowners impacted by the April 18, 2025 hailstorm through a newly adopted Building Permit Fee Grant Program.
The April storm caused significant damage to residential properties throughout the community. Recognizing that repair costs have created a financial burden for some homeowners — particularly those without adequate insurance coverage. The Platteville Common Council has approved a grant program designed to offset the cost of building permits required for hail-related repairs.
The grant is available to eligible owner-occupied residential property owners within the City of Platteville who have completed repairs related to the hail damage and obtained the required building permit.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Financial assistance is limited to owner-occupied residential properties located within the City of Platteville.
- Only property owners who have completed repairs related to the April 18, 2025 hail damage are eligible.
- The property must have been issued a building permit for the repair work. If a contractor obtained the permit, the applicant must provide documentation showing the contractor charged them for the permit cost.
- Applicants must provide proof that their insurance company did not cover the building permit fee as part of the insurance settlement.
Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2026.
The program reflects the City’s commitment to supporting residents during recovery efforts and ensuring homes are repaired safely and in compliance with local building standards.
Property owners interested in applying or seeking additional information are encouraged to contact City Hall or see attached application.
