Pine Street Water Main Replacement Project Public Information Meeting to be held June 25

The City of Platteville will be holding a Public Information Meeting on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall to discuss the replacement of water main and concrete pavement on Pine Street from Oak Street to Chestnut Street.

As a property owner, business owner, and/or resident of the blocks adjacent to Pine Street, you are well aware of the water main break that occurred on April 8, 2025 that caused significant damage to Pine Street and adjoining properties.  The City Council and the Water and Sewer Commission have deemed that another water main break is inevitable and so have taken action to replace this pipe.

The purpose of this Public Information Meeting is to discuss the scope of the project, the anticipated duration of the project, and traffic impacts to not only Pine Street but also the side streets between Main Street and Pine Street.  We will also discuss the proposed detour of west bound traffic on State Trunk Highway 81.  At the meeting I will be giving a brief presentation regarding the project and impacts with a question-and-answer period to follow.  The City’s Director of Public Works, Howard Crofoot, will also be present to answer any questions.
